Facility: Located almost literally at the 'end of road', our Boot Camp site in Togo, MN. offers some of the best sled dog training that you can find anywhere. Unlimited training roads/trails are available 24/7. The temperature usually cooperates even through the summer months so our Spring and Fall Camps pro mise dependable training weather.
The Bunk House is rustic and is open to all participants free of charge. Bunks and floor space for approximately 10-12 people. We've had up to 19 in the Bunk House but it was cozy!! Wood heat. Refrigerator; 2 microwaves, stove and electricity. There is hot/cold water; stove; shower & toilet; some freezer space in the Dog House, not far from Bunk House.
You may also choose to camp near the Bunk House or Mushroom House. We have RV hookups (electricity only). We use the Bunk House as a gathering spot for all participants during the Boot Camp. (See directions below.)
Timing: You will need to arrive at Togo, MN. between 12:00 and 3:00 p.m. the first day. Please arrive early that first day as you need to get situated in whichever building you choose or set up your camp/RV site. Getting to Camp early will also provide you with the opportunity to get yourselves and you dogs settled in before Camp starts.
We will start Camp around 4:00 p.m. with introductions and One-on-One Walk Training.
After dinner we will gather so that you can get to know the other participants; meet Ann & Jamie; discuss when/where to gather for the morning run; answer any questions you might have about Boot Camp and discuss any other information pertinent to this Camp.
We will start early the next morning. Depending on the temps you may need to water by 4:30 a.m.. We will let you know the night before what the plan is for the first run. If it is warm we will run at sunrise.
We hope that you will all be able to stay in the Bunk House. We have found that the participants really enjoy the comradery of being together and talking dogs.
Weather: We'll be working the dogs no matter what the weather.
Meals: Most meals will be provided this year. Your registration fee includes dinner the first night; breakfast and dinner the next two days and breakfast the morning of the last day.
Let us know if you have any dietary restrictions and we will do our best to accomodate you. The Camp fee includes meals for two participants. If there is only one person attending or you have more than two people with your group, please contact Ann Stead - northome@cpinternet.com
Directions: Take Highway 53 north through Cook to Highway # 1. Turn left of Highway # 1 going west. Take Highway # 1 (west) to Highway #65 - about 22 miles. Turn right (north) on Highway #65. Go 2 miles. The highway will curve to the left and head west - stay to the left and go exactly 1 mile. Togo Boot Camp road (Danyluk Road) is the first left after the curve (#543 ). Turn left and go about 1/4 mile to the first left an d turn left again. Go through the lumber yard and continue to stay to the right on the well traveled road until you get to the 'Boot Camp' sign. Stay to the left and continue to the Bunk House.
