- Mental preparedness |
- Having fun running dogs, whether racing or winter camping |

All rules for Iditarod apply, including mandatory gear. If you are using this for a Beargrease qualifier, you should be ready to carry Beargrease mandatory gear – you will also be required to carry a cooker. There will be at least 1 unassisted wilderness checkpoint.
There are as many ways to care for dogs and yourself, as there are mushers. There is no right or wrong way, but there are some guidelines that could help you do better.
Qualifying is not a given. You must show to Jamie and Paul that you and your dogs are a team that can do 1100 miles or go up and down the North Shore with competency.
Note: This event must be run on snow with sleds to count as an Iditarod qualifier.
We are also inviting those who want to learn and are not planning on qualifying for a bigger event to come and join us. You will be involved in all the learning experiences, but don’t have to do all the miles.

Points to Ponder: |
|
- The trail will NOT be marked. Teams will be traveling, more or less, together. |
You must be prepared to feed and care for your dogs and yourself out on the trail, including both
wilderness checkpoints. |
- Patience will be required. There will be a lot of stopping and waiting on the trail. Patience will be required for both mushers and dog teams – come prepared. |
- Iditarod and Beargrease rules will be followed regarding required gear, food and equipment – rules are available online and a copy will be available on-site prior to the start of the run for reference. |
